„Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human.” It is the basic theme of International Tolerance Day 2021.
International Day for Tolerance has been celebrated since 1995, on the 16th of November. 1996 the celebration was also encouraged by the United Nations. On this day, it is encouraged to draw public attention to the tolerance of different opinions, people of different nationalities, the sick, and those with addictions. Events are organized in various countries to develop tolerance, the ability to understand others, and patience.
Tolerance is courtesy, respect, understanding that another person may be different from us, and an acknowledgment that he or she has the right to be different from us. Basically, tolerance is allowing us to be ourselves and live the way we want to be. However, our way of life, our behavior, and our language must not violate the rights and freedoms of others, such as making fun of or otherwise harming them. Not all opinions, not all words or actions may be liked by others, but if you express it as an opinion, no one can punish you just for saying it.
